We've come up with a list of FAQs that should hopefully answer any queries you may have about Manta.

Q. Are you based in Croatia?
Hah! No, it is true, '.hr' is the TLD for Croatia, but we are a United Kingdom-registered company and our offices are based in London.

Q. I'm only a small business. Is Manta right for me?
That's the beauty of Manta. So many HR systems assume you have thousands of employees and a huge HR team to support them. We've designed it with small and medium sized businesses specifically in mind. If you have less than 50 employees, it is completely free.

Q. Do you pass on or sell my contract details to marketing companies?
No. Nope. Never. Your details are private and we aim to keep them that way.

Q. Where are the Manta web servers based?
We use Amazon's EC2 cloud hosting solution to host Manta in their Europe (Ireland) Availability Zone.

Q. How regularly do you back up the database?
We back-up the production servers every 24 hours and these are encrypted and stored offsite on a monthly rotation.

Q. Manta holds quite sensitive information. Is it secure?
We take security seriously and our engineering team are always focus on security first, performance/features second. We use a 256-bit SSL connection to transfer your data, and your sensitive data is encrypted on the servers.

Q. Who can see my personal data?
Although Manta is based around social profiles, we know that quite a bit of employee data is private and therefore there are very strict and obvious data access boundaries. Users get to see what they need to see and nothing else. Each employee has full control on what appears on their profile page.

Q. I do not want my colleagues to know my age, is this an option?
That is the only option - other users can only see your birth day and month and never year.

Q. What mobile or tablet devices does Manta support?
Manta has been built from the ground-up with a mobile first attitude. We have a fully responsive HTML5 interface that resizes the layout for mobiles, tablets and desktops. And becuase it is delivered through the browser, there is no software to install.

Q. What is the definition of a "user" in your licensing terms?
A "user" is any employee or admin account that you have created. If a member of staff leaves, you can either permanently delete them or hide them - in both cases, this frees up a user license allowing you to add another user.

Q. Do you encrypt user passwords?
Discussing security measures is always a double-edged sword. Technically, we use a cryptographic hash function to store your passwords so that no-one, not even our engineering team can view your password.

Q. I would like a trial of Manta before I buy it, is this possible?
Of course. In fact the only way to create a Manta account is to create a free account (no credit card required) and then only upgrade when you need more than 50 user licenses.

Q. It seems to do everything I need apart from X, is it on the roadmap?
We follow an agile development methodology and have a constantly reviewed development road-map. Please contact us with your feature request and we can let you know whether it is in development, actively being considered or it it is unfortunately something that does not fit with our plans.

Q. We have some staff based in a different country/timezone, does Manta support this?
Yes, we do too! Each user can be set to a different country and time-zone to the main account. What's more, their colleagues get to see the local time in their location.

Q. Can we pay using Malaysian Ringits?
We accept payment in GBP, USD, EUR and AUD. However, you will be able to pay using your credit card and your bank will do the currency conversion.

Q. We have funky names for teams in our company, how flexible is Manta on naming?
That's the beauty of Manta. It can be easily adapted to suit the requirements of your business. If you call your departments teams, gangs, crews or business units, you are free to change the labels. Likewise, with what employees work on - projects, clients, products, secrets...

Q. I know a lot of companies that might want Manta, what's in it for me?
Of course, our whole strategy is fairness and transparency. We have a generous affiliate programme as well as deeper partnership opportunities. Best bet is to get in touch.

Q. I work for an HR Consultancy firm, how can I become a Manta Guru?
Definitely, drop us a line and tell us more about your setup and your location and then we can work out the best way to set you up.

Q. Are there any Manta posters that I can put on our staff noticeboards?
From the admin dashboard you can download a personalised PDF poster with your company's specific URL. In addition, if you ask nicely, we can look to send you some MANTA mugs, posters and other swag (subject to availability).

Q. We are about to merge with another company who use Manta, can we migrate the data?
This is not possible through the website, however, if you speak to our support team, we can see if we can do the merge for you at our end.

Q. Is MANTA GDPR compliant?
Yes. We are considered a data processor and have clearly defined processes, responsibilities and data flows to ensure compliance. For clarity, we do not use any sub-processors or contact your staff outside of the operation of the MANTA platform. All personal data can be viewed, exported or permanently deleted as a self-service feature within the platform or can be actioned by our support team within 24 hours.
